The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a special weather statement warning of wind and showers for interior areas of the Big Island.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a special weather statement warning of wind and showers for interior areas of the Big Island.

At 7:42 a.m., a line of showers with strong wind gusts was located about 11 miles northwest of Mahukona and was moving east at 20 mph, according to National Weather Service forecasters. Forecasters cautioned that wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible with the line of showers.
